Every E.H.C. piece starts with something worth keeping. This is how a 1970s practice jersey became the rugby we sell today.

1 The inspiration

Club rugby, 1970s

Practice jerseys were built to be tackled in: heavyweight cotton, rubber buttons, and a placket that held up through a whole season.

2 The process

On the design table

Old team photos, swatch books, and sketches. Every piece starts on this table, deciding what to keep from the original and what to leave on the pitch.

Everything we make borrows a little from the games you grew up playing, and the guys you played them with.

Nobody remembers the final score. You remember the bus ride home, the bench, and the teammate who always had your back.

We make clothes with that in mind: a sweater for the warm‑up, a chino for game day, a polo for the sideline, a blazer for after, and a shirt for long afternoons at the clubhouse.

Continuous-loop placketBuilt from the original rugby design, so it won't tear when someone tackles you by the shirt. Finished with red contrast thread.

Double-jersey cotton100% cotton double jersey at an authentic rugby weight: heavy, soft, and built to last.

Metal armpit grommetsFour working metal grommets vent the underarms. One is red, to match the patch and the placket thread.

Embroidered elk patchEmbroidered on a twill background, like the patches on original rugby jerseys.

Micro paracord locker loopCustom micro paracord at the back neck, a nod to the locker room: made to hang on the hook with the rest of your gear.

Signature details

Athletic brotherhood, dressed well.

References to sport are worked into every piece through construction, trim, and finishing. Never loudly, but with intention.

Practice-jersey inspiration
Many of the collection's details trace back to traditional sporting garments, reinterpreted in a cleaner, more understated way.

The number-plate X
Jerseys once carried their numbers on a stitched-on plate. We kept the plate and its X-stitch, and left off the number.

Sewn-on number plates on the backs of club rugby jerseys: the construction behind our back-panel X.

Sleeve placket X-stitch
Borrowed from the athletic jersey, where the X-stitch anchored high-stress points like the front placket. We've moved it to the sleeve as a nod.

Reinforced placket
The twill-tape placket and reinforced stitching are inspired by traditional practice jerseys, adding structure, durability, and subtle character.

Zig-zag collar stitching
A subtle nod to vintage athletic uniforms, this reinforced stitch brings texture and character to an otherwise clean silhouette.

Hand-linked underarm gusset
Inspired by athletic garments built for movement and ventilation, it adds comfort through the underarm and a more distinctive finish.

Micro paracord locker loop
A nod to the locker room: a functional hanging loop that doubles as a quiet signature detail throughout the collection.

Reinforced spare button
A rubber spare button secured in twill tape draws on classic sportswear utility and adds an unexpected point of character.
